2009 promises to be the Year of the Dual-Core Netbook, low power dual-cores from Freescale, AMD, and VIA Technologies set to join Intel’s dual-core Atom 330.
AMD’s and VIA’s are the real-i-am dual-core processors and Freescale’s chip, a new member of its iMX family will include dual graphics cores that provide OpenVG and OpenGL support.
No word yet on its all important thermal design power (TDP) rating, details will be made available when Freescale rolls it out at CES sometime this month.
As we all know, netbooks are the hot items these days (are you listening Mr Jobs?), and Intel’s Atom has been king of the castle since it’s launch but Intel better be prepared for some stiff competition because the range of processor options is set to expand for the better.
