The new version of the HP Mini Note 2133 will be equipped with an Intel Atom processor.
Well this is the current rumour that has been reported on various sites.
At the moment it’s only a rumour but, if this rumour gets confirmed it would instantly boost the HP Mini Note into a machine that will be right up there with the leaders in the netbook market . The VIA C7-M has always been the stumbling block in the current Mini Note which arguably sent customers to MSI, Asus and the other big boys.
The guys at Netbookmag.com loved the feel, look and build quality of the current HP Mini-Note but that’s where the love stopped. We have always felt let down with the 2133′s lack of performance but if it gets this much needed boost then the HP Mini-Note will certainly be a major contender for the No1 netbook title.

As I heard it, much more likely HP are going to go with Via’s new Isaiah (‘Nano’) chip when released, as it allegedly uses the same pin architecture as the C7 – thereby requiring minimal retooling of the current production line to make the switch. Switching to the Atom would require a completely redesigned mainboard for the 2133.
This was discovered very quickly by early 2133 adopters who (equally unimpressed with the C7) cracked open the case to investigate a home-brew CPU swap only to discover the C7 is hard-soldered onto the board.
If the Nano is as good as the preliminary benchmarks back in April suggested, this can only be a good thing. The weak processor was the only thing holding the 2133 back from being the netbook of choice for the discerning user.

I spoke with the local HP press spokesman recently and he was able to say that there will be no HP with Atom.
He gave the Atoms lack of Vista-punch as a reason which indicates that HP will stick with Vista for netbooks.
I would guess that we – at some point – will see a HP netbook based on the next Via platform. But no Atom.

This could well be the number one netbook, we can’t wait to get our hands on one and as soon as we do we will post a full unboxing and review.
If anyone has had a look or even owns one of these we would love to hear from you.
