MSI’s own netbook, the Wind, has managed to crawl into some stores around the world this week but the first batch of units all have a 3-cell battery, and this applies to both Windows XP and Linux equipped models.
The Intel Atom powered Wind U100 is apparently facing not only CPU supply issues but also battery shortages as the 6 cell battery loaded models, which were initially said to be available straight from the off, are not expected to arrive until next month at $499 (with Windows XP). This means that those wanting a generous battery life from their Wind will have to wait a while. The silver lining is that MSI is asking $20 less for the 3-cell netbooks. And they have them in pink! Pity the UK pricing isn’t on par with the US.
