Japanese laptop maker Kohjinsha has announced a couple of sub-notebooks capable of giving the Eee a run for their money., The new offerings are Tablet Sub Notebooks running Windows XP Home and come with 80Gb Hard Drives.

The operating system runs on 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processors, and come with 512MB of 333MHz DDR 2 memory and 80 GB HDD.

The Kohjinsha SCCs (Small, Cheap ComputersTM) shave 7in, 800 x 480, LED-backlit displays, and are mounted on a swivel to allow them to be used as a Tablet PC.
The new sub-notebooks measure 218 x 163 x 25.4mm - a bit smaller than the Eee’s. but at 890g the Eee is 55g lighter

The Kohjinsha SCCs have 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and 10/100Mb/s Ethernet for connectivity, two USB ports, a three-in-one memory card reader, a CompactFlash slot, audio jacks and a VGA connector.
Kohjinsha claims the units’ battery is good for up to five hours’ runtime.
The SA5KXO8AL is priced at ¥59,800 ($591/£300/€374), and the SA5KXO8FL at ¥79,800 - which for the latter includes a copy of Office 2007 Personal Edition.
